PIGS

Pigs are valuable animals to own in Asia. Each family that receives a pig agrees to plant enough grass, beans, and corn to feed their pig, to build a well-designed pigpen with help from the village, and to vaccinate the pig, all with the advice and training of AECT staff. GIVE A BUDDING BUSINESS WOMEN A MICROLOAN

Help a woman struggling to put food on the table, buy clothes, and send her children to school with a small loan to start a business. Microloans are held for about eight months. NUTRITION TRAINING

The malnutrition level of children in many villages in India remains a concern with stunting occurring in over 55 percent of children in the target villages. AECT is training village leaders, parents and caregivers in nutrition, aiming to reduce the number of underweight children. Training sessions include a variety of activities such as role playing to convey what behaviors must change to better feed young children. A gift of USD$100 provides one training session over two days in the series of three trainings.

Wheel Chairs For Independence & Dignity

According to the World Health Organization, over 100 million disabled people need a wheelchair, but do not have the means to obtain one. Over 80% of these disabled individuals live in developing countries. The disabled poor are forced to crawl, must wait to be carried, or remain bedridden. They are dependent on others for basic needs. Families in poverty strain to care for disabled loved ones. Free Wheelchair provides wheelchairs, free of charge, to disabled individuals and their families.. The wheelchairs are life-changing, not only because they provide mobility, but they allow a disabled person to participate fully in society - giving independence, hope and dignity.

Help A Girl Graduate!

In India, cultural practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation (FGM) put education further out of reach for girls. Extreme poverty prevents 65% of students from completing school. The challenge is even greater for girls from some communities and tribes who are some of India’s most desperately poor citizens and where female education is not valued. Less than 10% of girls from tribes make it to high school.AECT believes these girls can become change makers in their communities and beyond, and gives their tribe girls access to education. Students attend boarding schools where they are safe, stable and receive a quality education.

Get Children Moving With Leg Braces

​Families of physically disabled children in the India can rarely afford the surgery, special medical equipment, and therapy needed to enable their children to walk. Often these children are left at home and ostracized by their community since they cannot walk, attend school, and contribute to society.

AECT works to equip these children with leg braces and the finances needed to support primary education for disabled Indian children. When a child attains maximum mobility, they have hope and dignity which comes from receiving the same educational opportunities as other children.

Restore The Land, Feed A Family

Families in rural India rely on what they can grow to put food on the table and generate income. However, most families are struggling to survive as deforestation and environmental degradation have reduced the land’s ability to produce.

AECT works with rural farmers. The farmers, who are primarily women, are given resources to grow organic, bio-intensive gardens that improve family nutrition and grow marketable produce to sell at market.

The toll this takes on them and the difficulty in getting to school regularly can disrupt their learning, or tragically, see them drop out of school entirely.
